Colorado Springs cycling advocates Allen Beauchamp and Al Brody, Chris Murray from Bicycle Experience and Tim Bergsten of PikesPeakSports.us plowed through four inches of crunchy snow on the surface of Eleven Mile Reservoir on Jan. 16, 2012. Brody may have been the first cyclist to ride a bike on Eleven Mile. Rangers there said they could not recall seeing another bike on the ice. Beauchamp quickly arranged a group ride and the four riders hit the ice.

Comment by Allen Beauchamp on January 17, 2012 at 5:47am It was a grand day to be out pedaling on Eleven Mile Reservoir. I've had this on my to-do list for many years, to go way out onto a frozen lake surface to ride my bike. Thankfully, the experience waited until fat tired snow bikes became more readily available as my typical studded mountain bike tires would have been a poor choice for the snow conditions that we encountered early in the ride.
Thank you for capturing it in such fine Pikes Peak Sports detail Tim!
