Running, Cycling, Hiking and Climbing in the Pikes Peak Region
This is the start of the inaugural Cheyenne Mountain 50K Trail Race at Cheyenne Mountain State Park. The race was organized by Steve Rogers and Andrea Watkins of Epic Endurance Events. Boulder runners swept the top three spots in the men's race. Michael Dominquez won with a time of 4:09:02. Jason Schlarb was second in 4:11:33 adn Levi Severson placed third in 4:12:18. The top Colorado Springs-area finisher was Brandon Stapanowich, who finished fifth in 4:31:18. In the women's race, Maria Petzold of Eldorado Springs took the win in 4:59:04, with Hannah Green of Colorado Springs following in 4:59:47. Leila Degrave was third in 5:10:11.
