Post-race interview with Matt Carpenter, 2010 Pikes Peak Marathon Champ

Are race fans important? Ask Matt Carpenter. "Somebody at an aid station said something like 'show 'em what you got' and I started picking it back up." Carpenter has struggled with a pulled muscle in his upper thigh. He wasn't real fast - by his standards - on Saturday (3:51:34), and he struggled coming down the top half of the mountain. But he said that after months of disrupted training - due to the injury - he was happy with his win. (Sorry about the shadows on his face...rookie videographer)

Love it! So real and down to earth. . . ya do what you gotta do to make the win - listen to fans, lie to yourself. . . definitely an earned win on Matt's part.
