Leroy Popowski breaks away to win his third Pikes Peak Cycling Hill Climb

Leroy Popowski pulled away from Chris Carr and Rory Kelly on the final steep pitches to take the win in the fourth Pikes Peak Cycling Hill Climb on Sunday. Popowski made the 12.4-mile climb in 1 hour, 11 minutes, 6.43 seconds. The paved-road course ascends 4,700 feet, ending at the 14,115-foot summit of Pikes Peak. Popowski, a 38-year-old optometrist from Colorado Springs, is undefeated in three races up Pikes Peak.
