About

Tim Bergsten created this Ning Network.

Yes, it’s a drag that the Incline will be closed during our beautiful Fall months. Yes, it’s the best hike in town, a great workout, and a strikingly lovely trail.

But wow, have you seen the pictures of what it will look like when the repair is complete? It will look amazing! And do you realize that the restoration project will protect the Incline from further erosion? I am so grateful for the vision of our Parks Department and the many groups who are funding this huge and daunting project.

And no, the restoration project won’t ‘sterilize’ the Incline. It will still be an amazing and challenging hike…a 2,741 step trail that serves over 375,000 crazy hikers each year.

On April 14, 2014, 2,741 people hiked the Incline. Can you even believe that? This trail is being loved to death, and yet it’s FREE for all who want to gain 2,000 feet in elevation in just one mile!!

Please thank the Incline Friends group for their tireless efforts to restore and enhance the Incline to its former glory and to protect it for future use for generations to come.

Let's expand our horizons and hike some alternate trails for a few months.  I even hear that Waldo Canyon might open in the Fall, which would be quite serendipitous. And for those of us running the Pikes Peak Ascent, let's commit to running up Barr Trail and other mountains for a while and remember how fortunate we are to live in this beautiful place with so many wonderful and challenging places to run and hike.

Yay us!

Where can I find the plans for the work they're doing? Are there sketches online?
