Doubling Marmot--That's a Wrap!

Run Fest 2017

It was so exciting to go to Memorial Park and pick up Bibs and get the coveted running bracelets. The Pikes Peak merchandise this year was excellent and extremely popular. I waited in line for one hour to purchase all of our goodies for the year.  I met some interesting people while waiting in line. My husband enjoyed the beer garden. After we left the Run Fest, we headed over to Ritz Grill for one last call before closing the doors over the weekend. The anticipation was…

Berry Pickin Marmot to Xterra Marmot

Berry Pickin Marmot

August 5, Vail, Colorado

Started the morning off with a nice little 2000 feet ascent over 3 miles. The race ended at 4.5 miles, but some of it was traverse and downhill!! The climb was literally breath taking. Not only was the race climbing 2000 feet, but it started out at 8,022 feet. The single track including beautiful creek crossings, Aspens, and views that are so wonderful it is hard to describe. This will be my last big ascent training run…

Slow Marmot/High Marmot/Wet Marmot

Officially finished the Barr Trail Mountain Race!! However, I was the last official finisher within the 3:30 time limit. I knew this race was going to be tough. It was more of a mental issue this year. Last year, 2016, I took a nasty fall at Lightening Point and literally broke my cheek bone and sprained my right ankle really bad. I was fretting about finishing this race again since I took that fall last year. Race morning, I woke up and repeated to myself, all I need to do…

Leg #2/Summer Round Up--Don't quit!

Summer Round up is in the books. I started the weekend in beautiful Vail for the Vail Hill Climb. It was a great morning with great temperatures. However, my body was trying to get the best of me. My motto was to take one step at a time until I crossed the finish line. I was successful in completing the Vail Hill Climb but it was exhausting. I tried my best to rest and hydrate for Summer Round up.

This morning I woke up early ad tried to prepare as much as I could for the run. Stomach…

Garden of Gods 10 mile

What a day this turned out to be! I woke up at 0430 to get ready for the first leg of the triple crown series, Garden of the Gods 10 miler. I have been running this race since 2011, but I was nervous. This year was a new course; I was also a Mighty Marmot. I didn't want to fail being a part of this team. I knew from previous years, I could finish this race within the time requirement for the Peak. I was still nervous as I could be. My husband, Gerald, was nervous too. We didn't know what to…

Mighty Marmots 2017

I am officially announced as one member of the 2017 Mighty Marmot team! I spent the weekend racing and enjoying trail running on National Trails Day. You couldn't ask for a better weekend for running. Saturday, June 3, I completed North Fork 50k in Pine, Colorado. This race incorporates a lot of ascents and some descents. In the distance, you could see the snow covered Mt Evans (which I will be running in two weeks). Sunday, I completed a very easy hike for the 4 miler in High Drive…
