The Pikes Peak Road ' "Our Great Race"

Each year the Pikes Peak Road Runners hold the "Our Great Race" to celebrate the club's birthday. There were 36 candles on the cake this year. Some 42 runners tackled a 5K course and a few brave runners turned on the jets in a 1-mile race.
Among the men, Dan Vega won both races, covering the mile 5:17 in and the 5K in 17:57. In the women's races, Sharon Dieter, 57, won the 5K in 23:10, while Stephanie Courson, 37, won the mile in 8:42.
