Justin Ricks, 31, of Pueblo West, took an early lead and held on for the win in the Fall Series No. 1 race Sunday at Monument Valley Park. Ricks covered the 3.5-mile cross-country course in 22:43.
The course is famous for a soaking 3/4-mile stretch in Monument Creek that slowed the times but provided for plenty of fun.
Pete Maksimow, 32, of Manitou Springs, was second (22:59) followed by Alex Nichols, 26, Colorado Springs (23:14).
Amy Babcock, 37, of Colorado Springs charged up the creek to win the women's race in 29:49. Nicole Rosa (51, Colorado Springs) was second in 29:59, followed closely by Regina Hammand (37, Colorado Springs) in 30:01.
