Joe Gray's busy summer schedule continued this weekend. He ran a race in Florida on Saturday, flew home to Colorado Springs that night and won the inaugural High Drive Challenge on Sunday morning.
Gray galloped over the out-and-back 10-mile course in 1 hour, two minutes, 56 seconds, climbing 1,500 feet along the way.
Alex Nichols finished second in 1:07:17, with Peter Macksimow about 30 seconds behind in third place.
Elizabeth Helland won the women's race, tracking down and passing Sarah Young and Amanda Ewing in the last mile. Helland clocked 1:22:43, while Young and Ewing ran in together at 1:23:15.
Justin Ricks and Amber Tong won the 4-mile race.
