About 100 riders took to the trails of Cheyenne Mountain State Park on Sunday in the Ascent Cycling Series final. Kalan Beisel and Tracy Thelen won the Pro/Cat 1 races. But the day belonged to everyone.
"I think we did OK this year," said Andy Bohlmann, owner of Sand Creek Sports.
Riders of all ages stopped by to shake Bohlmann's hand and thanked him for producing the series.
Participation was up this year, with much of the growth coming from younger riders.
The Marbaker sisters Rachel and Isabel raced and tied for the overall championship in the Junior Girls 14-and-under class.
"We'll do the Sand Creek Series next year," Rachel said. "It's awesome."
"They made the last one (race) hard so it was challenging," Isabel said.
