Running, Cycling, Hiking and Climbing in the Pikes Peak Region
The 2011 Armed Forces Community Run got off to a good start on Saturday, May 14, at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs. About 200 runners tangled with the race's 5K and 10K courses. Eric Faires of Colorado Springs and Shery Solberg of Peyton won the 5K races. Faires finished in 17 minutes, 27 seconds. Gerald Romero and Clare Bar of Colorado Springs were the 10K winners. Romero posted a time of 36:12. This is the first year that the race has been open to the public.
