Gold Camp Road closed

A massive chunk of Gold Camp Road about 200 meters east of Tunnel No. 2 was washed away in the heavy rains that struck the Pikes Peak Region Sept. 11-13.
A popular route for tourists, as well as runners and cyclists, the road is closed with traffic barricades near the top of the Chutes Trail.
North Cheyenne Canon Park is also closed at this time (Sept. 13).
The short connector trail from Gold Camp Road to Columbine Trail is about 100 meters east of the washout.
When the area opens again, runners, hikers and cyclists will still be able to reach the parking area, and upper Gold Camp Road and High Drive, by accessing Columbine via the connector trail from lower Gold Camp.
