Journey Racing Comes to Town!

There are now two adventure racing companies in town! Now, an adventure race is NOT a mud run! Big Mountain Adventure and Journey Racing both offer a wide range of adventure racing events. We'll try to keep you updated on them.

Journey Racing (www.myjourneyracing.com) will be offering two events in 2014 as they prepare for their huge events coming up in 2015. This 2015 race is planned to feature a full 48 hours of adventure. This race will be a survival style race like nothing the Front Range has seen! For this year, though the events are:

  • Journey Racing Challenge: a 5 mile trail running course that features several shorter "sprint" segments. Sure, you may not win the whole 5 mile run, but can you out sprint someone to win a Segment King or Queen prize?
  • Genesis AR: A "sprint" adventure race that will require teams in the prize winning division to bring an AR newbie. This event will be fast, furious and FUN! The event starts and ends in picturesque Palmer Lake, Colorado. Come on out for some late season fun!

Big Mountain Adventure continues its Colorado Springs racing heritage with two races in 2014:

  • Big Mountain Trail Run:
The 3rd annual Big Mountain Trail Run on May 17th offers half marathon, 10k, and 5k options in beautiful North Cheyenne Canyon.  This year showcases the same beautiful course as last year so you can compare your times. Let's hope for some spring buds!  The race begins at the Mesa Picnic area near Starsmore Discovery Center and makes it way up and down the mountain through trails such as Upper/Middle/Lower Columbine trail, Spring creek trail, and Gold Camp Road.  Bring an extra set of lungs!
  • Urban Spings Adventure:
Part "oyster", part "amazing race", part Springs Spree Festival... All Big Mountain Adventure...
Hosted as part of the 37th annual Springs Spree Celebration in Memorial Park, you will be presented with a variety of destinations, physical and mental challenges, riddles, and scavenger hunt challenges on the course. Each activity will have a point value assigned to it. You earn points by choosing the challenges you wish to complete based on difficulty, distance, and interest. A good strategy will provide you higher point potential whereas a poorly thought out course may limit your chances to win. Most amount of points earned wins!

We'll update other area events as we become aware of them. Be sure to check out Journey's community calendar (http://www.myjourneyracing.com/community-training-events.html) for more training events, too!

Not this year.  We did the race last year.  It was pretty fun for a party urban race.

Is anyone looking for a teammate or car pool buddy for the extreme break up ar?
