Interview with Casey Powell, four-time winner of the Max Silver Fun Run

Casey Powell defended her title at the Max Silver Fun Run again on Saturday.
She is the only woman to have won the race in its four-year history.
Powell ran cross country at Cheyenne Mountain High School. Silver, who passed away in 2007, was a cross country runner at Cheyenne Mountain High School and team captain when Powell was a sophomore there. She said he keeps coming back to the race to support Max's mother, Mary Stark, and to hang out with her old friends.
"It's the people," she said. "I really loved running for Cheyenne Mountain. Max was a really good captain, so I love to support the family and everyone. It's a fun time."
The race is a fundraiser for the Little Dipper Pool, where Max was a lifeguard, CASA of the Pikes Peak Region, and the Maxwell Silver Fund, which helps support the Southwest Writers Institute at Fort Lewis College.
