YO! I've Been Here Before Weighting for the Second Yo

First the good news. I quit my blood pressure and cholestrol meds a couple of months ago. I was a bit nervous getting my annual blood chemistry done this month. Did I mention in a previous blog that my wife is my family doctor's nurse. I can't get away with anything so I was praying my numbers for cholestrol and triglyceride levels are with in last year's numbers. Last year at this time, I dropped my cholestrol from 254 to 202 and my triglycerides from 276 to 206 using medication. This year,…

I'm Back in My Teens

219 to be exact. Now that my weight is heading the direction on the scale, the time of year is coming that seems to help me become a well-marbled individual. A lot like a steak, to be exact so I am working a plan to continue my quest to become 85% lean. To be honest, I am enjoying being able to tie my own shoes without it seeming like a major accomplishment working around my belly. I also like showing my wife how I can take my pants off without unbuttoning them. I am still in that no mans…

So That Is Where Old Man Skin Starts

This past weekend we photographed the 24 Hours in the Sage Race in Gunnison, Colorado. We hiked all over the 13-mile course taking photos and that was the best I have felt physically in a long time. I could not believe the energy I had covering the course. Nice discovery, but not the important discovery for me. In between riders, I finally answered one of my life questions that bugged me. How do you one day have old-man skin? I have…

In This Corner, Weighing 225 Pounds...

225, I haven't seen 225 in some time. And I have this group to thank for me finally seeing success without feeling starved. I'm down 20 pounds. I have halfed my blood pressure and cholestrol medication with my blood pressure dropping down 20 points to 118/69, with a consistant resting heart rate of 48 bpm. And again I have this group to thank for my success. I took your suggestions and worked on one suggestion at a time. I had just started cutting back on processed foods…

PC Now Has Another Meaning in My Life

I use to think PC only stood for "Personal Computer." Now I know it also can stand for "Portion Control." I spent 11 days in Venezuela working with missionaries and playing with kids. I learned a couple of things with my trip. No matter the cultural differences, people are people. Middle-aged women worried about wrinkles showing up in their photos. Kids love to have their photo taken playing sports. Community is what helps people get…

Foghat had Slow Ride, Eric Clapton is Known as Slowhand...

Foghat had Slow Ride, Eric Clapton is known as Slowhand, Top Gear's James May is called Captain Slow and me, you can call me Slow Fade. It has been almost two weeks since my last blog and I am down two pounds. I feel like I am slowly fading away. This week I finally took my bike out in the sun and felt that familiar comfort of my road bike. Despite what my south-end was telling me,…

Waisted Time? 1 UP, 3 DOWN (Kind of sounds like an end of an inning.)

Why have I been trying to lose weight by myself all of this time? What a waste of time for me to go alone. This past week I have learned the lesson of the importance of community. Thank you for all of the replies of advice and encouragement. Janet great to hear from you. I am a far cry from our Ascent days (don't look at me I am hideous).

I will compile all of the advice I have received and point out which habits…

One Up

This week's update is quick and to the point. I gained a pound. Last week as well as half way through this week was quite stressful with my real job and with photography gigs afterwards. Results, stress eating. OUCH, STRESS EATING IS PROBABLY ONE OF MY BIGGEST DOWNFALLS AND IT THOROUGHLY STRESS IS ME OUT REGARDING MY WEIGHT WHEN I REALIZE I ONCE AGAIN CLEANED OUT THE REFRIGERATOR!!!

I need to figure out how to control the feeding frenzy so that I can realistically start my…

I Can No Longer Weight

Ok, it is no secret that I am fat. As a matter of fact, I have become more man than my wife originally married. I didn't realize that the ring around my finger would eventually be joined by the ring around my waist. I went from a sub 20-minute 5k runner before marriage to a sub 20-minute miler 20 years later.

Let's face it. I am too chubby to boogie. I'd like to boogie but I am much too fat. I am tired of saying excuse me, large belly…
