For the eighth year, the online magazine and social network PikesPeakSports.us and the Triple Crown of Running are inviting runners to apply for a spot on the PikesPeakSports.us Triple Crown Runners Race Team, aka, The Might Marmots, aka, the Proud Purple and Gold! Deadline for application is midnight on Thursday, May 10. To be considered for the team, runners must commit to running in the Triple Crown of Running Races: The Garden of the Gods 10 Mile Run on June 10, the Summer Roundup Half Marathon on July 8, and the Pikes Peak Ascent or Marathon (no doublers, please) set for Aug.18-19. Those entering the Pikes Peak Ascent as Triple Crown newcomers are encouraged to apply.

We'll choose six runners of various abilities and ages for the team, plus one "retread" from a previous team. Running fast not required. We're here to goof around and have fun.

Team members will receive:

1. Free entry (or a refund of entry fees paid) in all of the Triple Crown races. 

2. Runners will also receive $100 cash.

3.The famous purple and gold team singlet. (It's like instant fame. You'll be running royalty.)

Team member responsibilities:

1. Each runner must create an account on PikesPeakSports.us and contribute blogs about your running adventures: Training for and racing in the Triple Crown, quirky, fun events in the running community, and how running enriches your life. There is much to write about and we’ll help with blog ideas, if needed. Blogging begins in late May and continues through the Ascent and Marathon. Please submit a blog at least three times a month. Many team members write more often, which is great. 

2. Runners must  wear team singlets at Triple Crown events.

3. Runners selected must provide bio information (basic stuff) and attend team photo session sometime in late May..

Team application

There are no wrong answers. We plan to choose runners of all abilities and ages. Hint: This team is largely about social media and the ability of the runners to write about their experiences. Those with strong writing skills and social media savvy (a big Facebook etc. presence) will have an advantage when we choose the team. Feel free to e-mail writing samples to Tim, or send a Facebook friend request. It's all good!
