From Alison:

Our garage was broken into Sunday night and my two LUNA team full suspension mountain bikes were stolen.

The dead bolt and bottom locks were picked on the garage door and there was even evidence the thief tried to jimmie our automatic garage doors as
well. He took my two bikes and left our two carbon fiber road bikes
(probably worth more $$) hanging on either side of the bikes he took.

Obviously this was a planned robbery and the person knew exactly what he wanted.

I have attached two pictures of the bikes.

Can you forward this email on to anyone else in the cycling community?

These are the only two Orbea full suspension bikes with this particular paint job in Colo Spgs, that I know of. So if you see one riding around, it’s
mine!!

Thanks for your help

I cannot remember the detectives name, but my LightSpeed was stolen a few years back (it was chained to my car right outside my office window). Professionals were able to break the chain in a matter of seconds and were gone, I looked out the window one second and it was there, I looked out a second later and it was gone. They knew what they were looking for. The police found it in a pawn shop with swapped out components (with comparable high end wheel sets and bar ends) so that it looked different. But a different detective looking for a different stolen bike knew that LightSpeed mtn bikes were rare and should not be in a pawn shop. You can hope that your two bikes are unique enough that they will attract attention in a pawn shop.

These were professional bike thieves.
On Friday Feb 4th between 12:30 and 1pm, lunch time I was at West side fitness getting a work out in before I went to CTS for the endurance club indoor series. I had my mtb GT Marathon 3.0 with a Psylo front fork and 20mm through axle and my road Raliegh R700 double and cable locked to the back of my truck. Now if any one knows this area this is one very busy shopping center with all that is going on there. Came out from my workout and both bikes were gone. I was parked right in front of the gym. You can not tell me no one saw somebody cutting the locks and cable and moving bikes from one vehicle to another but police were not called and I am now going through home owners to replace them. So with the deductable and the increase of my insurance it will cost me about half of the total replacement values, around $4k. This is the 4th bike I have had stolen in this town and they don't show up anywhere.... Been watching e-bay and craigslist, nothing. I respect our police but the attitude is they are just bikes. Wish we could privately set up some stings and get these ()*&*()^&%(*&'holes. WATCH YOUR BIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry to hear the bad news, Rob. It is definitely time to set up some stings. Hope your bikes turn up.

Another thought...post your story as it's own (new) forum post...we can spread the word more easily if this has it's own link.
