Running, Cycling, Hiking and Climbing in the Pikes Peak Region
A group of about 50 adventurous runners chugged up the first hills at the start of the Ponderous Posterior 50K. The race is part of the Fat Ass Series, a loose arrangement of ultra runs on Colorado's Front Range. The rules are simple: No entry fee, no whining. The course began in a west-side Colorado Springs neighborhood, then wound through the foothills above Manitou Springs. It also included an ascent of the Manitou Incline. There was plenty of beer and junk food waiting at the finish line.
