Hi Ashley, thanks for reply. I try to run someplace different every day. For example, a week can include the following: Spruce Mt (5 1/2 mi.), SF trail from 105 to Palmer Lake and back (about 8 miles),Fox Run about 4 mi.), Sec.16 Black Forest (4 miles-I train for races here), Field House at the Academy, Columbine, GOG . Many more. I believe the two things that keep me going are good running buddies( I am very fortunate in that respect and a variety of trails). Anyway, if you are ever interested in sharing a trail you can email me at loftypine@comcast. net. We could share tips during the run. In any event the best of luck to you and have a great holiday. Mark
Ashley, I wrote a reply back to you, but I'm new to this and do not think it went. Hopefully, this will, and hopefully it is not a repeat..
I started my training for the 2011 Ascent today by checking my pace/time from Memorial Park 2 1/2 miles up the Barr Trail to see if I was in the ball park to meet the cut offs. I was, but I have a lot of training to do if I'm going to improve my current pace. I do race e.g. the Bolder Boulder, which is a far cry from the Ascent. Anyway, if you are ever interested and would like to train with someone let me know. I trained with others for two marathons and I believe it helped a great deal. As far as my favorite trails I have many: A few are Waldo, Columbine, and Section 16 from Red Rock.In my area (Monument) we have many great trails e.g. Fox Run, Spruce MT. Falcon Trail and the SF trail (Palmer Lake).I've introduced a lot of people to these trails, which I enjoy doing. I run, swim and/or bike every day (at least I try to do so) so I'm in decent shape for my "senior" age. Anyway, the very best luck to you in your training, and let me know if I can be of any help either in the training and/or running some new trails.. Do you ever do 14ers? Mark
