A team of exceptional athletes, many of whom are injured Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, have departed from the Golden Gate Bridge on World T.E.A.M. Sports’ longest bike trek across America - Sea to Shining Sea. The mission of the ride is to honor the courage of our service men and women, the strength of the American spirit, and challenge perceptions of how we view athletes.
Spanning 63 days and 4,000 miles, the team of veteran riders will cycle through deserts, mountain passes and historical landmarks in an effort to cross our great country and shatter perceptions of how we view athletes. Riders will visit military bases, interact with veterans and civilians and spread hope for a fully-inclusive society. These courageous service men and women hope to demonstrate by example and inspire all people, disabled or not, to live active and enriched lives.
This team of great Americans will be passing through Colorado Springs on June 16th, 17th, and 18th. Here is a recent Video Interview with two of the athletes (check out Marc Esposito's Cervelo P2C).
