Food is abundant, yet our country starves for true knowledge about what we put into our mouths. As our country expands its waistline, food research grows to meet the demand of desperate consumers willing to do anything to drop the pounds. Magic pills, overnight diets, one less dessert here, one more meal replacement there, or . . . just wear this belly band to jiggle your middle into oblivion.

The sooner we acknowledge and put into practice the simplicity of good nutrition, the sooner our bodies respond. Thankfully, despite the latest discoveries, we will find what we've always known about food to be true: feed our bodies what they truly want, and something interesting happens.

Tip #1: Water your body

Before you consider what you're chewing, think about what you're drinking. Soda drinkers, especially those who drink mostly soda throughout their day, would be surprised to know how their bodies would respond to this one simple change.
