The folks at Gallup polling along with Healthways have determined that Colorado Springs is No. 4 among America's fittest cities with 17.2 percent of our population considered to be obese.
Who was No. 1? Fort Collins (16%), followed by Boulder (16.6%). Denver tied the Bridgeport, Conn., area for the No. 10 spot (19.3 %).
The cities with the highest percentage of obese residents were Montgomery, Ala., and Stockton, Calif., at nearly 35 percent. Obesity is considered to be body fat accumulated to the extent that it may have an adverse effect on health, leading to reduced life expectancy. Read more here.
Way to go Colorado! We're getting our slim on. And you know there are folks in Durango, Grand Junction, Steamboat, Telluride and other active towns doing the same.
