About

Tim Bergsten created this Ning Network.

So I have been busy all week with my kids last week of school, my oldest son "graduating" from elementary school moving up to middle school, soccer parties, graduation parties, family in town, seeing clients, training for my races, getting ready for three straight weekends of races coming up, and life's normal day to day responsibilities.  So I am pretty well exhausted and can not really focus to write an interesting training blog.  What I would like to say is Manitou Springs School District deserves a big round of applause for their committment to fitness and health and keeping our kids focused on staying healthy.  I was able to spend all day on Monday as a presenter at Manitou Springs Elementary School for their Fitness Jam day.  The turn out was amazing from the community with lots of presenters covering everything from bike safety to eating healthy to dental care to exercise, the obstacle course I ran the kids through can be seen above.  We had a couple of famous Manitou residents that were there, (hint an ex-pro football player and a really fast mountain runner), and the kids were really responsive and enjoyed every minute of the presentations.  It just shows that kids are naturally predisposed to being active, unfortunately our society tries to impose the typical lazy lifestyle on them.  I wish all school districts nationwide would do this kind of thing, I think it would make a huge impact on our next generation, in the mean time I am just glad my kids are able to attend a school district that realizes how important health and fitness are.  Way to go Manitou, and congratulations to all the graduates from the class of 2011.

Please check back next week for a training blog that pertains to training, if you have any questions or comments please visit my website at www.elevationathletics.org
