Running, Cycling, Hiking and Climbing in the Pikes Peak Region

I ran another 8 miles in the Garden yesterday. I beat the weather and it was a beautiful and crisp morning. There were lots of runners out and most appeared to be running a similar course, in preparation for the upcoming Garden of the Gods 10 mile race. I saw at least three people I know, and ran into a very large group of women who were all wearing pink shirts. I felt like a salmon swimming upstream.

I have already said it, but it bears repeating, that the GOG 10 mile is my favorite race. Yes, it's hard. Yes it's hilly. But the views are spectacular and there is great accomplishment after completing the course.

My husband, Matt, is also a frequent GOG 10 participant. And this year my 14 year old daughter plans to run with us. It will be her inaugural race in the Garden and it's fabulous that this race is now becoming a family affair, and a family tradition.

Now if only I could get my 16 year old son to also run the race with us. That would be quite a feat, but I suppose that's asking a lot of a teenager.

I'll post a family photo at the race finish. We'll be eating pizza and meeting lots of other runners who share our love for the Garden of the Gods. I hope to see you then.

I probably saw you during my run on the same day! Love the analogy of a salmon swimming upstream! Love the Garden 10 miler, too!

Great training run.  You are on your way to rock star status.

Glad you got a training run in this weekend!  I have heard the views are incredible on the GOG 10 mile course and have caught glimpses of that beauty on my training runs.  Not sure I'll be calling it my favorite race though.  :)
