Veterans' Home Run, Gallery 1

They don't call them masters runners for nothing. Peter Fleming, 53, and Sheila Geere, 50, made quick work of the Veterans' Home Run 5K on Saturday.
Both set age-group records on the mostly flat course that encircled Prospect Lake.

Fleming, who runs for the Colorado Running Company team, is on fire this year. He recently set the masters record at the tough Garden of the Gods 10 Mile Run. He blazed the Veterans' Home Run course in 17 minutes, 13 seconds, essentially leading wire to wire.
Geere, who swears she only runs to stay in shape for backpacking - but always seems to win anyway - clocked 19:43.
Both runners are from Colorado Springs.
William Edwards (22, Colorado Springs) was second in the men's race with a time of 17:18, followed by Andy Rinne (38, Colorado Springs, 17:25.)
Kayli Tabares, 14, pushed hard to catch Geere, but fell about half a minute short to place second. Tabares did break her own age-group record with a finishing time of 20:18. Kelsey Barry (26, Colorado Springs, 21:17) was third.
The event marked the ninth running of the Veterans' Home Run, a fund raiser that benefits the Colorado Veterans Resource Coalition Crawford House.
