5K on St. Patrick's Day, Gallery 3

The St. Patrick's Day 5K smashed its attendance record with 3,449 runners registering for the popular race in downtown Colorado Springs. Event organizer John O'Donnell said there were a couple of big contributing factors to the huge field.
"The weather was perfect today, so that helped," O'Donnell said. "And with the St. Patrick's Day parade following the race, a lot of folks come down. It's the biggest free event in Colorado Springs."
The Boulder Running Company's Tommy Neal outran everybody to win with a time of 15 minutes, 26.88 seconds. He was followed by BRC teammates Adam Rich, who was registered, but ran without a chip and was not given a finishing time, and Sean Brown, who clocked 15:45.06.
Colorado Running Company runners swept the women's race. Amanda Ewing took the win in 19:07.95. She was followed by Elizabeth Watkins (19:20,57) and Rochelle Persson (19:25.70).
