Waldo Canyon Fire: Some parks and Trails restrictions lifted

Here is an update on the weekend's running and cycling events, plus parks and trails info.

RACE UPDATE
The Summer Roundup Trail Run, the second leg of the Triple Crown of Running will run as scheduled. The race begins at 7 a.m., Sunday, in Bear Creek Park. More info here.
The Palmer Lake July 4 Fun Run has been postponed.
A new race date is to be determined. More info here.

TRAILS UPDATE
These trails and parks are open: Barr Trail, Palmer Park, Garden of the Gods, Ute Valley Park, Pulpit Rock (Austin Bluffs), Section 16, North Cheyenne Canon including High Drive and Helen Hunt Falls, Stratton Open Space, Rock Ledge Ranch and Red Rock Canyon Open Space. Santa Fe Trail south of the Ice Lake Trailhead.

Closed Trails: Waldo Canyon, The Incline, Intemann Trail, Bear Creek Park Trails west of 21st St., Blodgett Peak Open Space, New Santa Fe Trail through the southern part of the Air Force Academy to Ice Lake Trailhead all remain closed.

Also open are:
Garden of the Gods Visitor Center
Pikes Peak Highway and the Summit via the Cog Railway

Bear Creek Park: Developed recreation areas including the Nature Center, dog park, athletic facilities and pavilions will remain open. However, trails west of 21st St. remain closed.

The Veterans Home Run: The Veterans Home Run has been rescheduled for 8 a.m., Sept. 8. More info here.

The ProCycling Challenge:Originally set for Sunday in Palmer Park, the ProCycling Challenge will be rescheduled.

HOW YOU CAN HELP TODAY
The Colorado Running Company is accepting running shoes, clothing and equipment for runners who have lost their possessions, or who have been displaced. CRC will also take Care and Share donations tonight during the Social Run. Care and Share donation ideas: (large) cans of food, rice/beans, protein Bars, water/Gatorade, personal items such as towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap and shampoo.Drop it off at CRC (833 N. Tejon, 9275 N. Union, Ste. 120.

Boulder Running Company, 3659 Austin Bluffs Pkwy No. 32, is accepting food donations for Care and Share. Please donate these things (by order of importance)

Canned and boxed meals, macaroni and Cheese, Soups, beef stew, ravioli, cereal, cans of fruits and vegetables

Snack Items, granola bars, beef Jerky, protein bars

Personal Care products, new towels and washcloths, lotion, deodorant, shavers, shaving crème, tooth paste, diapers, hand sanitizer

Rampart Range Road:Closed

Hwy 24/Ute Pass is open
