The Denver Post Ride The Rockies is an annual bicycle tour that takes 2,000 cyclists, assisted by more than 100 volunteers, on a 6-7 day ride through Colorado’s Rocky Mountains each June.
The 32nd Tour will showcase the communities of Alamosa, Pagosa Springs, Durango, Ridgway (supported by Ouray), Montrose, Gunnison, and Salida. Beginning in Alamosa, the ‘Gateway to Colorado’s Great Sand Dunes’, the ride will traverse through some of the same mountain passes made famous by the historic Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad and highlight Wolf Creek Pass, the Million Dollar Highway, the Blue Mesa Reservoir and Monarch Pass. From Alamosa, cyclists will cover 447 miles and ascend over 32,000’ vertical feet, all the way to the ‘Heart of the Rockies’ in Salida. Online registration is open until February 26th on ridetherockies.com
Proceeds from Ride The Rockies benefit The Denver Post Community Foundation; all funds raised are returned directly to Colorado nonprofits.
